Trifari Historical Reference & Price Guide

Trifari began in the 19-teens and Trifari & Trifari and in the 1920's became Trifari, Krussman & Fishel and earliest pieces were either marked by label or in the mid-1930's marked KTF. The KTF mark was not always well-struck, so it could be worn away or difficult to find. In the late 1930's the 'Trifari' mark began to be used, in various styles, and was the predominate mark from the 1940's forward after KTF was dropped, however additional other hang tags marks andlogos were used. The copyright symbol © was added around 1955. The original Trifari was bought out in 1975 and in 1994 became part of the Monet Group (subsequently purchased by Liz Claiborne) and contemporary pieces are marked Trifari™. Because Trifari jewelry has been around for so many decades, their designs cover full spectrum and there's a huge range of looks and materials to choose from.

There are many resources both in books and online to help date Trfari jewelry, some of these links are listed at the bottom of this page. In general, the older pieces are most desirable, and command the highest prices. Designs by head designer Alfred Pkilippe are also highly collectable. There are also several lines from the 1960's that have become quite collectable. Values list are generally retail and vary according to a huge range of factors, including not only condition and age, but venue sold in and current market conditions and trends, so consider any value ranges on these reference pages to be estimates only. This page is a work-in-progress and will be continue to be updated with additional designs.

A jelly belly specifically refers to the clear lucite belly or boddy (in some cases petal of a flower) and date to the mid 1940's. This swan has a 'thumbprint' lucite belly, so named due to the indenttion in the center of the lucite. The gold washed sterling wings and neck are decorated with pave' set clear rhinestones.

*values for jelly belies have been dropping in recent years, and have been fluctuating significantly recently. The rarer the pieces, the higher the value
